An ambitious volunteer project at Burlington Little School is based on a simple — some would say sad — fact of life for today’s children.

They aren’t getting outside enough anymore.

Jump-started by a $10,000 “seed grant” from the Arbor Day Foundation, the school is turning its one-acre yard into an outdoor classroom, which will someday have natural climbing areas, large homemade musical instruments made of found objects, and maybe even a water feature.
