Sage Mailhiot waters radishes Tuesday in the garden at Burlington Little School during a summer camp called “Hey Farmer,” during which children learn how their food goes from a seed in a field to dinner on their plates.

BURLINGTON — Five-year-old Sage Mailhiot is already applying her newly acquired knowledge of plants and gardening.

Wandering through the garden at Burlington Little School, she pointed out the different kinds of fruits and vegetables she and the other youngsters are growing during a week-long summer day camp called “Hey Farmer.”
